A$AP Rocky’s return to Sweden
We had just 1.5 weeks to pull together a short documentary on A$AP Rocky’s return to Sweden after his 2019 arrest. No room for comfort. No room for noise.
We pushed the story further by digging into what’s really happening in the suburbs of Stockholm — the tension, the inequality, the system cracks that rarely make the headlines. Byron Atienza, who brought the project to us and directed it, wanted impact. We did what we do best: we overdelivered.
This is the kind of project you dream about landing on your desk in little old Amsterdam, and almost never does. The response spoke for itself. It became the most-viewed and most-liked video-only project ever delivered by Monks.
Beyond A$AP, the film brought together local voices and established names. An unfiltered look at a failing system and a reality A$AP had already lived through. He showed up for those who showed up for him. That matters.
And on a personal note: we didn’t just meet A$AP. We met Rihanna too, front row, no jokes, standing ten toes down for her man.
Unlock the underdog. For creative and culture driven production. Let's talk.
