A journey into the mythology of Día de los Muertos.
This project was part of a long and intensive development process, shaping a script that would capture all stages of death within a single one-minute film. Salomon Lighthelm led the creation of the entire visual approach, and together we worked out how to execute this ambitious vision in just two shoot days. No small task considering we had close to 50 shots within approximately 15 hours of available daylight.
Choreography was never left to chance. World-renowned ballet dancer Isaac Hernández and his brother Esteban Hernández took part in this cinematic piece, with choreography developed by none other than Arthur Pita extended as well to the local talent in Iceland.
It was a project that left nothing to coincidence, which is exactly what you’d expect when working with a director as detailed as Salomon Lighthelm. Beyond the main film, we delivered an extensive suite of social assets, partly shot in a studio in Amsterdam.
To achieve the desired analog look, all 35mm film, equipment, and specialized crew had to be flown in. On top of that, additional crew members were brought on due to local availability constraints. A logistical puzzle, and a producer’s dream…..
